An old friend of mine finally puttered out during my last trip: my trusty USB remote. After dozens of presentations and easily a hundred hours of use, the “next slide” button finally gave out.
Why do I share this touching story with you? Because buying a remote is a great first step towards vastly improved presentations and lessons. It lets you move around naturally, and interact with your audience or students. I see far too many teachers and presenters rooted next to their computers clicking the spacebar.
There are numerous USB remotes that will work with any PC or Mac. The one I’ve been using cost about $30 through Amazon and I liked it so much that I bought a second one! I’ve also tried this one, which worked great and looks nicer, but I’m simply too used to the feel of my old clicker.
If you’re presenting to students or other teachers without a remote, consider picking one up. I promise that it’s an investment that will change your game! There’s no way I could speak to an audience without one.
