For the Week of January 10th, 2027

Curiosity-provoking links to get your students (and you) wondering!

1. Watch a new Japanese islet formed from a volcano. And then watch as it connects to another, older island!
2. Elephant seals are really big. Lots of great little moments in this video, but I've cued it up at 2:50 for some laugh-out-loud nose close-ups.
3. Yoann Bourgeois' "Celui qui tombe" (He who falls) is a performance of six acrobats on a spinning platform. And boy does that thing get spinning! There are several moments where it doesn't even look real. All set to Sinatra!
4. Bird Photographer of the Year's 2020 Finalists in the "Bird Behavior" category. Is that hummingbird standing on another hummingbird's beak!? Find more categories here.
5. Kid engineer, Amiyr, invents a seed-launching backpack to help create a more pollinator-friendly neighborhood.
